DANCE INDIA DANCE
Dance India Dance is an Indian dance competition show that airs on Zee TV in the India, produced by UTV Software Communications and has become India's largest dance-based reality show. The show is the national TV version of the Zee Bangla dance reality show Dance Bangla Dance which also has Mithun Chakraborty as Grandmaster. The show first premiered on 30 January 2009 was created by Zee TV producers. The first season was hosted by Tarana Raja; since then second season it has been hosted by Indian TV star Saumya Tandon with Jay Bhanushali. The show features a format where dancers from a variety of styles enter open auditions held in Indian Metropolitan cities to showcase their unique style & talents and, if allowed to move forward, then are put through Mega-audition rounds of auditions to test their ability to adapt to different styles. At the end of Mega Audition, Only Top 18 dancers are chosen as 'finalists' who move on to compete in the competition's main phase where they will perform solo, duet and group dance no. in a variety of styles in competit- -ion for the votes of the broadcast viewing audience which, combined with the input of a panel of judges, determines which dancers will advance to the next stage from week to week.
The show features a variety of Indian cultural and international dance styles ranging across broad spectrum of classical,contemporary, Bollywood, hip-hop, jazz, Salsa, Samba, Kalaripayattu & musical theatre styles, amongst others, with many sub genres within these categories represented. Competitors attempt to master these styles in an attempt to survive successive weeks of elimination and win a cash prize (typically Rs 50 Lakh) and often other awards, as well as title of "India's Best Dancer". The show is choreographed by Indian choreographers, such as Terence Lewis, Remo D'Souza, Geeta Kapoor and Mudassar Khan. The show has won several Television Awards for "Most Popular Dance Reality Show".
Dance Ke Superstars featured contestants from the first two seasons to compete against each other. The show was judged by choreographer, Remo D'Souza, Shiamak Davarand features a guest judge every week. Team jalwa won the series. Mithu Chowdhury from Kolkata was declared the winner of Dance India Dance Super Moms 2013 Season & Ceccille Rodrigues was the 1st runner's up. DID Dance Ka Tashan featured contestants from Dance India Dance Super Moms competing against contestants from Dance India Dance Li'l Masters 2. The show is judged by choreographer Ahmed Khan and Geeta Kapoor & hosted by Rithvik Dhanjani. The shows consisted of 12 finalist couples. The Grand Finale was scheduled for filming 7 April 2011 at the Andheri Sports Complex for broadcast on 9 April 2011. Jeetumoni Kalita was the winner of the first season of Dance India Dance Li'l Masters. Faisal Khan was declared as the winner of the second season.The third season began broadcasting on 1 March 2014. Geeta Kapoor, Ahmad Khan & Mudassar Khan were judges, along with Sanam Johar, Raghav Crockroaz, Rahul Shetty and Paul Marshal Cardoz and the DID 4 contestant, Swarali Karulkar, as skippers. Teriya Magar was declared the winner. Dance Ke Superkids - Battle of the Baaps! featured contestants from the first two seasons of DID L'iL Masters. It was judged by Geeta Kapoor, Farah Khan & Marzi Pestonji & hosted by Jay Bhanushali and Shreya Acharya .
JHALAK DIKHLA JAA
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is a television reality show and the Indian version of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. In Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, celebrities perform various dances together with professional dance partners. The show's format is taken from the Strictly Come Dancing show on BBC One in the UK. The show is also pre-recorded, unlike Strictly Come Dancing and other spin-offs. Of the spin offs, the Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa is the only one that uses recorded tracks rather than live music with an in-house band. Jhalak Dikhla Ja has already completed its 7 seasons and currently its 8th season named Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Reloaded is running. It is hosted by its former host Manish Paul. Karan Johar is the only judge to have continued his role in Jhalak; starting his 4th season this year. Shahid Kapoor, Lauren and Ganesh Hegde are the new judges added to the panel of the reloaded Jhalak format. The contestants of season 8 are: Sanaya Irani, Shamita Shetty, Scarlett Wilson, Deepika Samson, Hammad Saleem, Subhreet Kaur Ghumman, Raftaar, Aashish Chaudhary Radhika Madan, Vivian Dsena, Faisal Khan, Kavita Kaushik, Mohit Malik and Irfan Pathan.
DANCE +
Dance Plus stylised as Dance + and tag lined "Ise Kehte Hain Dance" is an Indian dance competition reality television series, which premiered on 26 July 2015 broadcast on STAR Plus. The series is produced by Frames Productions. The auditions for the show were carried out in thirteen cities in India, started from 3 June 2015. The series is hosted by Raghav Juyal, while Remo D'Souza judge the show. Dharmesh Yelande, Sumeet Nagdev & Shakti Mohan are the mentors of the show.
DANCE FEVER
Dance Fever is an American musical variety series that aired weekly in syndication from January 1979 to September 1987. The series was created and produced by Merv Griffin and written by Tony Garofalo. Deney Terrio hosted the series until September 1985, where he was replaced by Adrian Zmed. The show's announcer for the first two years was Freeman King until September 1980 where he was replaced by Charlie O'Donnell.
During Terrio's tenure as host, the show's theme was performed by a musical team called Triple "S" Connection. Each week, four dancing couples competed for a weekly cash prize of $1,000; Each couple performed their dance routine for a total of two minutes and the celebrity judges scored them anywhere between 70 and 100 points. The couple with the highest total score were the winners and advanced into the next round of competition. In the event of a tie, one set of celebrity scores was dropped in an effort to decide a winner; every fifth week was a semi-final show where those winning couples from the last four weeks competed for $5,000.
NACH BALIYE
Nach Baliye ('Nach' means Dance and 'Baliye' means partner or mate) is a dance, reality-television series on the Indian channel Star Plus. The show is a couples dancing contest. The first & second season aired on Star One & then shifted to Star Plus. It got renewed for season 7. The show is a competition wherein 10 television celebrity couples compete against each other. Contestants dance to a different tune, different theme and different styles every week and scores are given by the judges. Each week one couple is eliminated based on public voting and their scores. Nach Baliye has already completed its 7 seasons and one season as Nach Baliye Shriman Vs Shrimati.
DANCE X
DanceX was a reality television show produced in the UK for BBC One in 2007. It was a live show, in which two teams of male and female dancers competed to form a new dance group. Team Bruno won the show on 25 August. The show was hosted by GMTV and former Xtra Factor presenter Ben Shephard. The 2 teams were led by Hot Gossip founder Arlene Phillips and fellow Strictly Come Dancing judge and choreographer Bruno Tonioli. Both Arlene and Bruno had their own assistants, a choreographer and a vocal coach. Arlene was joined by Ashley Wallen, one of Britain's leading choreographers, and expert vocal coach Joshua Alamu. Bruno's assistants were Derek Hough, dancer & choreographer, and CeCe Sammy, vocal coach.The dance teams' performances were judged by the British public using the ubiquitous telephone vote.Straight after the live BBC One Dance X show, there was a spin-off show, Dance Xtra, on BBC Three. Presenters Angellica Bell and Rufus Hound chatted to Arlene and Bruno about how both groups had performed each evening. There were extra interviews with the eliminated dancer and unseen footage was shown. Each week Dance Xtra had a celebrity guest and fan of the show.
DANCE MOMS
Dance Moms is an American reality television series that debuted on Lifetime on July 13, 2011. Created by Collins Avenue Productions, it is set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Los Angeles, California at the Abby Lee Dance Company and follows the early careers of children in dance and show business under the tutelage of Abby Lee Miller, as well as the participation of the dancers' mothers. Filming for season 5 began on October 11, 2014, and premiered on January 6, 2015. Dance Moms was renewed for season six, with Abby Lee Miller confirmed to return to the show. Every week on the show, Miller uses a pyramid to present who she feels performed and behaved the best in her eyes and who needs to improve. Miller had never used a pyramid in her studio prior to Dance Moms, and when once asked about the it, Miller stated, "I've never done that in my life. That has nothing to do with me. That's the show; they came up with that whole process" The pyramid changes every week, and the moms' behavior continues to be a factor in the girls' placement on the pyramid.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE
So You Think You Can Dance is a franchise of reality show in which contestants compete in dance. The first series of the franchise, created by producers Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, premiered in July 2005 and has broadcast twelve seasons since. Adaptations of the show began airing in other countries in late 2005 and to date 25 shows have been produced representing as many countries and comprising over 70 individual seasons. The most recent series to enter production, So You Think You Can Dance Arabia, is set to air in an as-yet undetermined number of additional nations. In March of 2014, CCTV broadca--st a promotional episode in which notable dancers from the U.S. and Chinese versions of So You Think You Can Dance competed directly against one-another as teams. Titled Zhōngměi Wǔ Lín Guànjūn Duìkàngsài - Super Dancer Born Tonight, the show was shot in Las Vegas but has yet to see a release or announcement in the U.S. The episode featured head-to-head competition between "all-stars" in the form of solos and duets and was judged by an international panel.
JUST DANCE
Just Dance is an Indian television dance-reality series on Star Plus. The series is judged by well-known Bollywood film actor Hrithik Roshan along with choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant and film director Farah Khan. Hrithik Roshan rehearsed for 5 hours a day for 5 days to shoot for the promotional video of the series, which is choreographed by shows judge, Vaibhavi Merchant. It premiered on 18 June 2011 at 9 PM in India and aired every Saturday and Sunday. The 52 dancers were selected from India and outside of India. They were invited to Mumbai for further competition to select the top 12 dancers for the show. The top 12 contestants were decided for the show but due to some reasons, 13 dancers were selected. The Season 1 of the show was won by Ankan Sen from Kolkata, while Surjeet Bansal from Delhi won the second spot. Ankan Sen was awarded with Rs 10 million and a Maruti Suzuki Swift car. Hrithik personally rewarded Surjeet with 1 million rupees and he also received a Maruti Suzuki Swift car. Both of them got a contract with Star Plus. Karan got a trophy and a Rs 300,000 check from Hrithik. Produced by Sol productions, the show will be shot across 30 episodes. It will start with auditions, & then proceed through eliminations, as participants vie to be the apple of Hrithik's eye. Contestants are called through registration process to participate in the audition. In London, the first stage audi--tions were judged by Samir Bhamra. In the auditions, the best dancers are chosen by Vaibhavi Merchant and Farah Khan & given JDS certificate.Selected contestants wait in waiting zone for HR Bracelet which allow them to perform before Hrithik in Mumbai.
DANCE PREMIER LEAGUE
Dance Premier League is an Indian dance reality show that premiered on Sony TV on October 9, 2009. The series is judged by the known Bollywood film actress Rani Mukherji, and famous Indian choreographer Shiamak Davar who guides all six teams as an 'umpire'. The series replaced Sony TV's long running dance show Boogie Woogie. The show consists of six teams, consisting of eight dancers each, that are chosen at auditions across India. One of the six teams consists of NRIs. Each zonal team will play against every other zone. Each match will have a solo, a duo and a group round. The tally of all three rounds will decide the winner. The scoring is like cricket runs, e.g., duck, single, boundary, sixer, etc. The winning team gets 2 points. At the end of each match, awards are also given just like cricket, e.g., Man of the match, most 6's, most 4's etc. After the league matches the top four teams will play semifinals and then the top two will fight in the finals. The points are awarded by the choreographers whose teams have not performed on the day. Shiamak Davar, aworld renowned choreographer is the match umpire and he can question or raise an objection to the points awarded. Rani Mukerji, DPL ki Rani (Queen), will choose the man of the match and also award runs for the performances. Man of the match gets 6 runs and these runs are added to the Round 3 score of their team.
